Adoption Frequently Asked Questions

As our animals reside in private foster homes rather than a shelter, an approved application is required before arranging a meet and greet. The adoption fee varies based on the age of the dog.

To be considered for adoption, we require the following:

1. A completed application.
2. A home check.
3. A positive veterinary reference.
4. Verification that all past and present animals in the home are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and maintained on year-round heartworm prevention.

Additionally, current and past pets must:

• Receive care from a traditional veterinarian (not      solely from low-cost clinics, SPCA, or shot clinics) at least annually.
• Demonstrate a history of excellent veterinary care.
• Be indoor-only pets with no unaccompanied access to the backyard.

1. Submit an Adoption Application: Complete the adoption application form available on the rescue’s website. This form typically asks for information about your household, lifestyle, and experience with pets.

2. Home Check: A representative from the rescue may conduct a home visit to ensure that your living environment is suitable for a new dog. This visit helps assess the safety and comfort of your home.

3. Provide Veterinary References & Verify Pet Care:To verify the care of any current or past pets. This helps the rescue ensure that your pets have received proper veterinary care. Confirm that all current and past pets in your home are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and consistently maintained on year-round heartworm prevention.

4. Meet the Dogs: Once your application is approved, arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in. This allows you to interact with the dog and ensure it is a good fit for your family.

5. Complete an Adoption Contract: If you decide to proceed, you will need to sign an adoption contract outlining your responsibilities and the terms of the adoption.

6. Pay the Adoption Fee: The adoption fee helps cover the costs of care and medical treatment for the dog. Fees may vary depending on the dog’s age and other factors.

7. Bring Your New Dog Home: After finalizing the adoption, you can bring your new dog home. The rescue will provide support and resources to help with the transition.

8. Follow Up: Stay in touch with the rescue for any additional support or advice as needed. Some rescues may require periodic updates or check-ins.

The adoption fee for our rescue dogs covers the following:

1. Pet Care: Each dog is spayed or neutered, receives vaccinations, deworming, and a general health check. Additionally, all dogs undergo heartworm testing and receive treatment if necessary.
2. Behavioral Evaluation: Each dog undergoes a behavioral evaluation to ensure they are matched with a suitable home and to facilitate a smoother transition.
3. Support and Resources: Adoption includes ongoing support from our rescue, including advice on training and integration into your home.
4. 30 Days of Extra Support through PetCademy: Enjoy additional support with training and behavioral resources through PetCademy.

We strive to ensure that every dog is well-prepared and ready for a successful and happy life in their new home.

We are a foster-based organization and do not have a physical location.

If you are interested in meeting a specific dog, please complete an adoption application. Once approved, we will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. Please ensure that all members of your household, including any current pets, are present for this meeting. 

Our dogs are also available for viewing at adoption events, which are listed on our website under "Events." Please note that while we attend these events and fundraisers, we cannot guarantee which dogs will be present at each one.

Our dog rescue receives dogs through various channels:

1. Animal Control and Shelters: We work with local animal control agencies and shelters to rescue dogs in need of immediate care and placement.
2. Transfer from Other Rescues: Sometimes, we collaborate with other rescue organizations to take in dogs who may have special needs or require specific care that we can provide.
3. Community Outreach: We also receive referrals from veterinarians, community members, and organizations that identify dogs in need of rescue or rehoming.
4. Owner Surrenders: Individuals who can no longer care for their dogs may reach out to us for assistance in rehoming them.

Each dog undergoes a thorough assessment to ensure they receive the appropriate care and are placed in a loving foster or adoptive home.
